Higher education for Sustainable Development

The Bologna University and the Politecnic University of Milan organized an online course to present 17 Sustainable Development Goals.

The Bologna University and the Politecnic University of Milan organized a massive open online course (MOOC) on "Higher education for Sustainable Development Goals".  The course introduces the concept of Sustainable Development and the recent debate and policies promoted at the global level to face urgent environmental and societal challenges. 17 Sustainable Development Goals, the SDGs, aiming at addressing ambitious sustainability challenges by 2030, are presented across the course program. The course concludes with a call for action to accelerate and demonstrate the active commitment of the HE community.

Professor Gilberto Antonelli (AlmaLaurea Strategic Scientific Committee) has contributed with two lectures.

The first leture deals with the theme "Decent work and economic growt". In this lesson 3 are the key points: first, the main objective of SDG 8, why it matters and its theoretical bases; second, the evidence on unsustainable practices at the world level provided by UN and at the national level provided by BES and ALMALAUREA; third, some solutions to decent work and what can be done for the workers of the world.

 

 

The second lesson deals with the teme "Reduced inequalities in international economic development". In this lesson 6 are the key points:  the main objective of SDG 10; why it matters; its theoretical bases; examples of inequality at the world level provided by UN; examples of inequality at the national level provided by ISTAT and AlmaLaurea; what can be done.
